My father was a tough old soldier. He was no nonsense and rarely ever smiled; however, he always made sure there was an African Violet in the house. I never saw him actually water the plant but I recall they were always beautiful and vibrant, and I always felt that the flower was a reflection of his true heart (beautiful and vibrant).
